He entered the Society at Roehampton on 7 September 1910 and after the noviceship did a year’s juniorate there.  He went to Gemert for his first two years’ philosophy, returning for his third to St Mary’s Hall.  From 1916-1921 he taught at Beaumont, and in 1921 started his theology at St Beuno’s.  He was ordained at Milltown Park, Dublin, on 31 July 1924 and remained there for his fourth year of theology.  In 1925 Malone started teaching at the College in Preston, a connection which was to last with some interruptions until 1954.  He did his tertianship at Paray-le-Monial in France in 1928.  In 1936 he was appointed Prefect General at Liverpool but had to leave during the year for operations on his sinuses.  After convalescing he became Prefect at Mount St Mary’s until 1938.  Then he returned to Preston and was first in the College and then in St Wilfrid’s Parish until 1954, developing deep roots in the town, both with Old Boys and parishioners.  

From 1950 to 1958 Malone was a Consultor of the Province.  In 1954 he was appointed Rector of Manresa Training College, where he stayed until 1957, then he was for a year Minister at Garnet House, then spent two years on the staff at Worcester.  In 1960 he went as Chaplain to the Preparatory School, Ladycross, Seaford, and taught Religious Doctrine there too.  In February 1963 he went to St Mary’s Hospital at Eastbourne for a hernia operation, however he developed complications and remained at the hospital until he died on 6 March 1963.  His Requiem Mass on 11 March at the Jesuit Church at Bournemouth, and he was buried at Wimbourne Road Cemetery.  </Nationality>
