These comprise: 'Holy Roodlets', a series of 3 newsletters produced by the church of Holy Rood, Watford, Hertfordshire between April-July 1939 [the May 1939 issue No 5 is not included] which mainly consisted of brief opinion pieces and anecdotes commenting on contentious contemporary issues such as birth control, or the political situation in Europe. The anonymous author criticised 'war-mongers' and advocated neutrality by the French and British governments, as well as commenting on Communism and the "Jewish problem". A detailed and critical review of 'A Junior History of England' by A W P Gayford, published by Methuen & Co, accusing the writer of pro-Protestant sentiment and a failure to give a balanced account of pre-Reformation England.. 1939
