| Description | This photograph shows Cardinal William Heard, newly appointed Cardinal-Deacon of S.Teodoro, receiving his galero hat from a Papal messenger at the English College in Rome; Cardinal Heard was born in Edinburgh on 24th February 1884 and ordained priest on 30th March 1918; he was elevated to Cardinal on 14th December 1959 and appointed Cardinal-Deacon of S.Teodoro on the same date; he was appointed Titular Bishop of Feradi Maius on 5th April 1962 and ordained Bishop on 19th April 1962; he was appointed Cardinal-Priest of S.Teodoro on 18th May 1970 and died on 16th September 1973, aged 89. |
