Description | This photograph shows the exterior of the church at Strichen which, according to notes on the back of the photograph, is now disused; according to entries in The Catholic Directory, the church at Strichen was in use until 1895, with its own resident priest who also served Fraserburgh; however, the entry for 1896 indicates that Strichen was now served from Fraserburgh, where a hall was being used for Mass while a new church for Fraserburgh was in the course of erection; according to The Catholic Directory for Scotland for 2009, the church at Fraserburgh, built indeed in 1896, is Our Lady, Star of the Sea, and St Drostan. |
