DescriptionThis postcard shows the exterior of St Mary's Cathedral in Aberdeen, set on a busy Aberdeen street, and photographed beneath a blue sky; notes on the back of the postcard state that the principal church of the Catholic Diocese of Aberdeen was opened in 1860, the architect being Alexander Ellis, with the spire added in 1876-77; as at 2009, the estimated Catholic population is 1,500.
