DescriptionCorrespondence relating to the S.C.O.P.E. Community Centre. S.C.O.P.E. was set up by the Middlesex Polytechnic Students Union in 1976 to foster good relations between students and local residents, providing cultural, social and recreational facilities for the local community. It was established as a collaborative project, working with local Churches and other organisations. The SCOPE Community Centre was established in the former BERCO factory building in the High Street, Ponders End, opening in September 1979. The file comprises correspondence between Pete Wallbridge, S.C.O.P.E. Project Organiser and Bishop Philip Harvey, who was a patron of the Community Centre.

NB The Project has no connection with the existing SCOPE charity, first established in 1952 as the National Spastics Society.
