Description	Correspondence and other papers relating to the Catholic University Project. In 1868 the Catholic Bishops made a first step towards the establishment of a Catholic University in England. The College of Higher Studies was established in Kensington and was to be funded by donations from wealthy Catholics. For various reasons this project failed and was closed in 1882.
