| Description | Correspondence between Manning and Bishop Ullathorne.
William Bernard Ullathorne OSB (1806-1889), Archbishop of Cabasa in partibus (1888-9), Bishop of Birmingham (1850-88), Vicar Apostolic of the Central District (1848-50), and Vicar Apostolic of the Western District (1846-8). A highly influential bishop seen by many of Manning's opponents as a better choice as Archbishop, last surviving Vicar Apostolic, and missionary to Australia who helped establish the hierarchy there. |
