Description
Illustrated journal of St Edmund's College, Ware. Vol XXII, No 153. Includes a report on the arrest and trial of Cardinal Mindszenty in December 1948 and a copy of the letter of protest sent to the Prime Minister of Hungary by John B Bagshawe, President of the College. There is also an article on the celebrations of St Edmund's Day, attended by Cardinal Griffin, Bishop Myers, Bishop Craven and Mgr Bickford.; an article on Twyford School and Standon School; a second article on the Mawhood family; the theft of the tabernacle from the chapel of the former College building in 1799; the construction of a new church at Walkern and obituaries for Fr Charles Henry Lionel Snell, Fr Leonard Clark, Capt Thomas Neville Stack, and Mgr Canon Howlett. There aer also illustrated reviews of performances of 'Murder in the Cathedral' by T S Eliot and 'Leave it to Psmith' by Ian Hay and P G Wodehouse.
