Description	A small collection of printed material relating to the work of the Catholic Women's Network. The items were deposited by the family of the late Veronica Seddon, on of the founding members of the Catholic Women's Network. The Catholic Women's Network was set up in 1984 at a Conference, entitled 'Called to Full Humanity', which Veronica Seddon was involved in planning. The Conference was critical of the way the Catholic church inhibited women's full participation and wanted to identify strategies for bringing about change to church institutions, including the ordination of women priests. The group published a quarterly journal, 'network', as their main method of staying in touch and sharing views. They also held regular events and and an Annual Gathering, as well as weekend meetings, public lectures and workshops. The group had links with other organisations, notably the National Alliance of Women's Organisations, the National Board of Catholic Women and the European Women's Synod. In November 2005, following consultation with the membership of the Catholic Women's Network, the Annual Gather voted to adopt the title Women Word Spirit, as a more inclusive and descriptive name for the organisation, recognising that the membership of the Network had always included many women from other denominations or none.
